ethical investment
once upon a time, in a land far far away, i had money in the bank. but since then, i decided to become a student again and now i have hardly any money in the bank. so hopefully, you have more than i do. and if you do, do you ever wonder what to do with it? i know i did.
during my recent internet troubles, i listened to the radio (especially bbc radio 4) constantly, as it was my connection to the outside world. a programme about ethical investing caught my attention. i thought i was being socially and environmentally conscious by banking with a credit union! the show answered many inquiries from callers, which i found extremely informative. unfortunately, it's not available on podcast, but you can access the transcript.
the bbc business page offers a basic guide entitled ethical investment made easy. if you're worried that ethical funds may not be the best type of investment, in this last quarter alone, ethical funds have topped uk investment charts as smart money pours into ethical funds. ethical funds have proved that they can perform well and discriminating consumers have led to a larger market for ethical funds; ethical funds prove they can overcome.
in the uk, the ethical investors group has a comprehensive directory of ethical funds. in canada, the ethical funds company is a family of socially responsible mutal funds.
